every once in a while my computer screen goes blank. it just turns black and the only way to fix it is by restarting the computer. i have a 7600GS 256MB NVIDIA graphics card. anyone know whats wrong? also how i can fix it?

I am looking into a computer for my father to use in his office. All he needs to be able to do is surf the web and send/receive e-mails, so he wants a basic setup. The computers I looked at have the option of pentium d or amd athlon processors. Which one is better and why?

It's fine until i go to turn it off- it does nothing, just sits there, for ages. I have to click it at least 3 or four times. It just won't switch off

This is a somewhat difficult situation, but to make it simple, during a reformat, my computer lost all drivers, i've fixed everything but the ethernet card. It keeps saying a network cable is unplugged, and this isn't possible.......if someone could tell me how to check for a bad ethernet card or how to tell what drivers i need exactly, i'd appreciate it.....

I bought a new hardrive, this is my set up.

2 IDE ports
primary
C: = XP
F: =slave

secondary
DVD
*new hardrive*

the startup recognizes it, but windows doesn't... am I missing something?

i lost the cd installation disc to my printer and i need to install it to my new computer. i installed it in my old imac but that was like 5 years ago and yeah i cant find the cd. anyone know if i can download the installation software online. i looked on their site but they didnt have it. is anyone willing to lend me the cd if you have the same printer. lols
