Because teachers see anywhere from 20 to 100's of different students in a day. Imagine If you not only had to do your homework but also the homework for 6 other classes PLUS trying to find time to have a life after school. Teachers are intelligent and hard working but they have to work through problems just like anyone else.

All teachers are not as smart as everyone thinks they are, or better yet, they're not as smart as they SHOULD be. Some of the most unintelligent people I know somehow made it through university and are teachers today. Scary.

it makes things a whole lot quicker, saves us time in looking up the answer. it's mainly a timesaver. having things worked out in advance. textbook makers use the existence of such things to sell texts. teachers don't know everything and are busy grading your papers.

So they don't need to know the information. They can just lecture from the book, page by page.

because they don`t have all the time in the world to figure out the answers while their students are doing the problems. and because it is natural for people to make errors. nobody`s perfect.
