Oh God, All these answers made me laugh. I am in IT (information Technology) aka computers. A notebook and a laptop are the same thing, just a different name, not smaller not bigger NOT DIFFERENT! Trust me! And a desktop that is the computer that isnt a laptop (the big tower type thing). They are only types of form factors nothing to do with the parts because all vary as you probably seen.

Like i said i am a computer tech so i think i know what i'm talking about.

Not sure about the laptop/notebook difference. I think that notebooks tend to be smaller than laptops.

Desktops are the traditional computer. It's a whole mess of units! There's a separate monitor, keyboard, CPU, and speakers. These are the most common type. You probably will never see someone hauling around a desktop to work and back. Since they are allowed to have as much weight and size as they want, they tend to have more memory than laptops/notebooks.

A laptop is a small, portable computer. These open up like a book and have the monitor, speakers, keyboard, CPU, and usually a mouse device of some sort built into the whole thing. It's light and portable. However, they tend not to have nearly as much memory as desktops that are the same price, since they are forced to pack all of the CPU in a space that is about 12" by 8" by 1".

A desktop is big has a big tower processor and a screen, either CRT or LCD.... a laptop and a notebook is the same thing (i think)

generally notebooks/laptops are slower then pc's so "enhances performance allowing this notebook to perform like a desktop" just means they are good laptops...

A note book is slimmer than a laptop and a desktop computer is the one that has the big old main frame that sits somewhere arond the place. A note book has a wider screen and is a lot slimmer than the thick laptop its more compact i guess, i am on a note book now, so yeah that's the diff between teh 3 ^^ hope i helped?

Notebooks are slower than desktops by marginal ammounts in most cases. This wasn't always true but with todays mobile technology its safe to say that Laptops are damn capable computers. One thing though is a laptop will normally cost nearly twice as much to upgrade.

NOTEBOOKS ARE LAPTOPS, GENERALLY REGARDED AS SOMEWHAT SMALLER VERSIONS. AND A DESKTOP IS TOO BIG TO CARRY IT AROUND SO YOU LEAVE IT ON TOP OF YOUR DESK. THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAPTOPS AND DESK TOPS IS THE PROCESSOR. BECAUSE OF SPACE AVAILIBILITY DESKTOPS CAN USE A BIGER PROCESSOR AND THUS ARE QUICKER. WITH LAPTOPS THE PROCESSORS ARE SMALLER AND HARDER TO KEEP COOL. CHANGES ARE BEING MADE TO ALTER THIS AND SOON, VERY SOON THE GAP WILL BE CLOSED.

GOD BLESS

Laptop-a computer that you can put on your lap. (hence its name "Laptop") Laptops are much easier to move than a desktop.
Notebook-a laptop that can fit in your briefcase. Notebooks are much easier to move than a laptop.
Desktop-a computer that you can put on your desk. (hence its name "Desktop") Desktops perform better than Laptops/Notebooks.
