every once in a while my computer screen goes blank. it just turns black and the only way to fix it is by restarting the computer. i have a 7600GS 256MB NVIDIA graphics card. anyone know whats wrong? also how i can fix it?

the actual monitor stays on but it shows nothing at all. just black.

Take it to a computer workshop type place.

it's one of the most common problem with regards to the computer monitors..

The graphics card you have may have dust surrounding the card or the card slot. (you should clean it up) and/or probably your graphics card is not inserted properly or is jammed.

Just try cleaning up the parts inside your pc and reconnect drivers and cards. This should fix the problem. (do it twice a month or so)

go into your power management settings and make sure everything is set to never. the quickest way to get there is to right-click on your desktop and select the properties, then click the screen saver tab and click power management button. or you can go into the control panel to get to it.

I have had that very same problem with some of my computers turning off the power management usually takes care of it.

the problem is with ur graphics drivers , try to reinstall them first and update them, if the problem still exists then just try some other graphic carsd to check if ur graphic card it not faulty , if its fauly then get it replace , if its still in warranty, and if its not in waranty then i am sorry u have to buy a new one

is your video card overheating...uh...is it a retialed video card...most cards have been known to have have bad video memory...that might be the problem...when are you doin when the screen goes blank....

or is it just your monitor?
