For nine years I used the free home for personal use Avast. Never had one virus in nine years. Last week Avast missed six trojans. Did not catch or even find on scan. I removed an isntalled the free AOL antivirussheild powered by Kaspersky Labs. out of Russia.

They will send you a free key good for life. This antivirus program found all six trojans and destroyed them As an excellent real times scanner that functions both on shutdown and bootup. An ofcourse background rounds all the time while you are on line. Uses little or no resources.

Avira AntiVir isn't bad, you can find it at: www.avira.com.
Also if you go to trendmicro.com they have a free online scan, I believe it's called HouseCall, it's nice in that its virus list is continuosly updated. I'll let you know if I run across anymore, but these are what I use at the present time.

Try AVG Antivirus Free Edition. I just found it in download.com so just search for it there. I still haven't used it but I know an internet cafe in our place that uses it for a long time.
