I just purchased A 3d fuzion nvidia 7300le 256 mb ddr video card.
I decided to remove the fan and the heat sink and apply aritc silver 5. The fan is so loud and so I just want to remove it. Is it ok to do that or just leave it? I have done applying thermal paste before on my other cards. Thanx

I have a Dell Notebook. Dell has informed me that I have USB 1.0 ports, not 1.1. I wish to add a PCMIA card or a component which will hook into my 1394 port to add USB 2.0 hubs. Unfortunately, it appears that most of these add-ons are only backward compatible to USB 1.1 according to their literature. I've had several CSRs tell me that the products would work anyways, but I am skeptical. Would appreciate any comments or experiences with such an upgrade.

I want to buy more memory to make it faster. Now, I have two choices, I can either buy internal memory or an external hard drive. My question is this, which will make my computer faster, the internal memory or the external hard drive. When I was a kid I was able to tell is there was a t.v set on in a house buy hearing a high pitch sound, I havn't heard it in years because im older and your hearing changes and the new telly sets have moved on (plasma etc.) and probably don't make that sound anymore. Last night when I was online on my laptop it made that high pitch freq. sound only 100 times louder I have never heard it coming from a pc before. I havn't heard it this session but I think it could of come from the built in wi fi. Any ideas?

This has been happening for months. Upon boot of Windows, or just any other time it feels like it- even if I don't have an Internet Explorer window open, I get a message pop up that says: Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost." There is only a CLOSE button at the bottom right. No "X" at the top right. When I click CLOSE, nothing happens- explorer does not shut down. Anybody know what is causing that?! Thank you!

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Norton, ran update and ran virus scan. I downloaded CounterSpy, Spywareblaster, and Ad-Aware, and ran all those. I keep my system constantly updated from the Windows site too. Still have problem.

hi,
i m raj. my HDD is seagate 40GB.
it has recently developed a new error. whenever i connect it to my friend's computer, it gets detected well.
all the data from my disk can be copied to my friends disk. also all the data can be copied from my friends to mine disk also.
but whenever i rejoin my disk to my computer, the data copied from my friends disk is not shown but that much disk space is also shown occupied & is thus wasted.
PLZ HELP....!

my labtop overheats when i have it on a bed i know now not to do that very often but when i have it set on a table it kinda heats up a little bit is that normal and can it mess up your labtop over time?? and is overheating of the labtop can that affect your labtop monitor ??what what parts exacly overheats in the labtop itself
