I heard it from my tv when i was young too. Don't know about the pc but think it was to do with the glass tubes in the back of the old(i'm taking beta max video old lol) tvs.

your laptop has hundreds of mechanical parts inside it including fans,hard drives,ect so what you may of heard will probally be your hard drive,as the 2.5" drives that laptops use are slightly noisier than the 3,5" drives that are in desktops
depending on the age of your laptop,it may be the drive is just showing its age,they say a hard drive should last 5 years but in my experience they only last around 2 years
also it could be the system fan,such as the bearings,as these can make a high pitch sound
just check all of your laptop

I know exactly what you mean! I can still tell if there's an electrical appliance on somewhere in the house! Dont know what that sound is though, sorry!

i am 25, i know excatly what you are talking about.
i've never heard it from a pc before, but i hear it from all tv's lcd and plasma.
i thought i was the only person on the planet that could hear it!!!!
i gues i'm not as special as i thought!!!!

Too much opium, my friend. lay off it a bit. Don't overdo it, or you begin to hear the voices. The voices are nice at first but then they make you burn things.
