When I was a kid I was able to tell is there was a t.v set on in a house buy hearing a high pitch sound, I havn't heard it in years because im older and your hearing changes and the new telly sets have moved on (plasma etc.) and probably don't make that sound anymore. Last night when I was online on my laptop it made that high pitch freq. sound only 100 times louder I have never heard it coming from a pc before. I havn't heard it this session but I think it could of come from the built in wi fi. Any ideas?

your laptop has hundreds of mechanical parts inside it including fans, hard drives, ect so what you may of heard will probally be your hard drive,as the 2.5" drives that laptops use are slightly noisier than the 3,5" drives that are in desktops
depending on the age of your laptop,it may be the drive is just showing its age, they say a hard drive should last 5 years but in my experience they only last around 2 years
also it could be the system fan, such as the bearings,as these can make a high pitch sound
just check all of your laptop
good luck

Too much opium, my friend. lay off it a bit. Don't overdo it, or you begin to hear the voices. The voices are nice at first but then they make you burn things.
