Virtual memory is your computer using the hard disk to emulate physical memory (RAM). This warning means the the paging file for your virtual memory is too small and needs to be resized, this should occur automatically and is managed by the operating system, it has nothing to do with how much room is on your hard disk as a previous answer said.
However when using virtual memory you computer is going to run very slow because disk access for paging to virtual memory is a mechanical process and as such much slower than using RAM. You should look to unload or shut down applications if your system is using a lot of virtual memory. Also you may want to consider upgrading your physical memory (RAM). Personally I never own/operate a computer these days with less than 2GB of RAM.

Your Radom Access Memory uses what is called Virtual Memory to make your machine seem like it has more memory than it really does. This keeps things running smoothly when you have a lot of programs open in your system. It is important to allow for the computer to manage your Virtual Memory if you don't know how to properly configure this feature. Usually the comptuer sets a paging file which is in porportion to your RAM. If it is telling you it is low, then you or somebody else has went in and changed these settings.
Go to System Properties, click Start, place your cursor over My Compter, right click and select Properties from the shortcut menu. System Properties will open in a dialog box. Click on the Advanced Tab, then click on Settings button under Performance. A new dialog box will appear with these settings. Click on the Advance Tab, and then click the Change button under Virtual Memory. Here is where you need to set these figures. Now, your virtual Memory has a minimum and maximum size. There are two boxes with these figures in them, under the Custom Radial button. If the minimum is half of your RAM, and the Maximum is equal to your RAM, that is how it should be. If it isn't, then reset the figures to such, click on Set, then click on Apply, then click OK on all Ok buttons to exit the System Propterties, and then reboot.
Your Virtual Memory Paging File should be 1.5 times the amount of physical RAM on your sysstem, and the maximum size is three times the amount of physical RAM, (twice the minimum). These figures are based on the amount of physical RAM on your particular system, so I am unable to tell you what that figure should be for you. However, if you have one gig of physical memory, then your minimum should be 1.5 gig but in MB not Gigs, so you have to do a bit of math. Your maximum size would then be three gigs but agian, in MB, not Gig, so convert to MB.
Also, if for some reason you need to over ride the system default sizes, click on System Managed Size and put in your own prefered figures. I do not reccomend anybody to select No Paging File, as all systems need some form of file, but some people with very large amounts of Physical RAM do decide to forgo the Paging File in Virtual Memory. As you don't even know what Virtual Memory is, I suggest you just reset your Custom amount to the default settings, in other words the minimum 1.5 and maximum of 3 times your Physical RAM. But again, in MB, not Gigabytes, Ok?
Your paging file in Virtual Memory should now be reset to what it should be and these messages should stop appearing. Good luck and have a nice day.
P.S. Brain K is correct, this has nothing to do with your hard disk space, or your needing a new computer. It also has nothing to do with your hard drive running out of space. It is as we both just said, and changing the paging file will fix this problem. Don't listen to these others who are telling you you need a new computer or a upgrade on your hard disk. I too don't run a computer with less then four gigs of RAM.

It means you need to increase "Page file size" on your computer.
refer the following steps.
> Go to desktop
> Right click MY COMPUTER
>click on Properties
> click on ADVANCE TAB
> click on Performance > Settings ..button
> A pop up menu will appear, called Performance Options
> In that click on Advance Tab
> U will see 3 things.
> the last one is Virtual Memory
> click on change
> In that at bottom u will see Recommanded,
> According to that , Assign more than recommanded in Initial size, and give some more extra for maximum, that depends on your hard disk size.
This is the solution of your problem.
Good luck

Virtual memory is when the computer sawps programs out of the physical memory on to the hard drive. When your computer says that, maybe it means you don't have that much disk space?

It just means that your memory level on your hard drive is doing too many application processes at once. Just click on the little balloon wizard and that should take care of the problem. My computer does that to me all the time too. Another way to fix this is to do a defrag, but I can't explain how to do that, you should know how to defrag your PC.

Virtual Memory is space on your hard drive that is emulating your physical memory (RAM). If you are running very low on hard drive space, you will get this error. I highly suggest deleting files and doing a disk cleanup...or buy a bigger hard drive.
If your hard drive is this low on space, your computer will be quite unstable.
