I work at an office, in a cubicle. About 7 feet behind me sits a very large, kinkos-sized printer that has an internal fan constantly running inside of it. The fan is really loud and annoying, and I'm exposed to it like 10 hours each day. The printer can't really be shut off because people are constantly using it, and I'm afraid of speaking up about it because people will think I'm weird. I've tried ear-plugs, but they hurt my ears. Any comments, suggestions? THANKS.

I would like to buy a laptop but am on a strict budget. There are refurbished laptops at Tiger Direct for less than $500. If I am buying one at a price like that, what is considered decent in terms of memory, capacity, speed, etc. Even though I need to get a cheap one, I still want one that runs nicely. Is this possible? Please give me some specific numbers (i.e. amount of gigabytes). Also, is a refurbished laptop even reliable? Thanks.

Has everyone heard anything about the next generation graphics cards that that will support DirectX 10? Also, has anyone heard about the next generation CPU from AMD? They've seemed to always keep ahead of Intel in the past, I can't help but wonder what processor they will reveil next and how it will compare to the Intel Core 2 Extreme.

I need a definite answer on this because its driving me nuts. I know alot about computers, and i didnt think this would be why... but, I just installed a new CD-RW / DVD combo drive that is 16x DVD reading speed, and 52x Burning speed (for cd's). My videos are all "choppy" and the sound quality isnt too great, its not real bad, its just the sound that irritates me. I have the Nvidia video codec, and K-Lite Pro (which i only needed so that my dvds would play on windows media player) and I have an Mpeg-4 Video Decoder, but it still wont work well. I just need to know if I need a faster drive or not, or if there are any codecs or decoders i need. Any Suggestions? (Please answer only if you actually know what youre talking about, thanks!)
