Is there any way to clean the head manualy so that it doesn't use use up ink e.g. open it up and use a tissue to clean it inside. I'm not very good with computer hardware stuff so please help. Thanks.

As long as it's in great condition, is it wise to buy a used laptop from somewhere like ebay?

Any known issues that one should be aware of when buying a used laptop?

I have an old Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard that I'd like to re-assemble. In doing so, I'd like to make her as speedy as possible. What's the fastest CPU I can put in there (AMD or Intel)?

First my computer gets one beep, and then mouse freezes, about 5-10 secconds, it is working again. Sometimes both keyboard and mouse freeze together. I have to restart the computer, and then everything will work again, but the same story happens again. I resinstalled the mouse driver from the disc, but in vain. What is wrong? How can I fix it? Please help, and thank you!!

My computer is announcing that the ram is dead- according to its beeps at least (the computer starts, and the fans are on, but the screen does nothing). But I have two blocks of 512mb RAM- and I've tried to switch them around, and it still doesn't work.

Does this really mean that my RAM doesn't work? I find it hard to believe that both of them are busted. However, I've had ram-related problems before with the screen freezing whenever I used a Ram-intensive program such as bittorrent.

I've also seated and unseated the graphic card, so I doubt it has anything to do with it. Is it safe to try the ram on another computer, to see if the fault is there? I suspect the RAM i've been using is pirated. Is it possible that something else beside the RAM is causing the problem?

*mutters* Ram is expensive.

I have general pieces and parts (hard drive, graphics card, dvd & cd drives) but am trying to figure out the mobo and cpus. There's more choices than there were the last time I bought a computer, so it's very overwhelming. Any help would be appreciated. My budget is flexible (currently at $500, saving a little more each payday) and I think I have some time before my old machine goes out. Any thoughts?

I recently had a problem with my Acer laptop which fortunately for me was still under the factory warranty of 1 yr, parts and labor. I know my Platinum Visa has a program which doubles the mfr. warranty on most items I'm sure there are exclusions but I don't believe computers or laptops are excluded? Has anyone ever had a problem with something you bought no longer in the mfr. warranty period and used this program with any success?

How long was the turnaround time between calling and getting your items repaired? I would be interested in knowing, the one I have says to make a copy of your receipts and send them the originals and then when you have a problem you call them to get them involved with the mfr. and getting the item repaired.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705. I'd like to clean the keyboard--dust, etc, but am not sure what the best way to do it is? I haven't spilled anything on it, I just want to clean up the loose stuff that gets in between the keys, etc. Thanks!

my computer used to make a clicking noise in the tower unit and the computer would slow down when it did so. sometimes the clickingnoise would go berserk and then a blue screen would show up saying that a 'crucial thread' was missing. usually i would just restart it and thenit would go back to normal until the clicking started again!

a few days ago, i had to restart the computer and then it just said on the startup screen that no hard drive could be found!

since then, i have bought a new hard drive and connected it and the same message still comes up.

what could the problem be?

When I start my computer nothing happens on the screen and I hear uniform long beeping sounds, and the powerbutton doesn't work and to turn off my computer I need to remove the powercord.

The screen remains blank- all the fans are in operation, and the disk drives function. On the back of the computer there are 4 indicator diodes which are glowing red- except one that is glowing green.

I am confused- is this a problem with the powerbox or the 3d card? Perhaps something is loose? Help please.
