Do NOT get an SLI board, get a Crossfire board. It is never a good idea to mix an nVidia chipset with an ATI card, but especially not when you wanna run Crossfire. I am not saying it won't work, but why take the risk.

There are several VARIANT versions of SLI. First is the traditional fully SLI supported motherboard. This will have 2 PCI-E slots to insert two SLI compatable video cards. A small connector chip is needed to connect the cards together. Second, several mobo manufacturers are creating a knock-off, but just as good version of their own SLI. No SLI compatable video card is needed, no extra connector chip, and any card manufacturer will do (besides being limited to nVidia Based cards, even though I love them). The "SLI" connection is built into the motherboard, where the video information is split in the mobo's chipset before it reaches the individual GPU's which process the information and send it back. ---- Good Luck

As long as the motherboard supports SLI you should be fine.

It just needs to be SLI compatible.
