my computer is new but my monitor is at least 8 yrs old. all of a sudden it diminished the sides of the screen 2 1/2 in on each side and darked in color. every now and again when i would turn it back on it would pop back to normal size but it has now consitantly stayed in this half mode for days. i ran a virus check to make sure it was not a virus and it came back clean. i also tried to restore it back to a day when it didn't happen, still didn't help. can i be sure that it is a MONITOR problem? i don't want to buy a new monitor (even though i will eventually) and that not correct the problem.

I have a compaq presario v2623ts laptop with celeron M processor.

Will I damage my laptop if I run it 24x7. There is no air-conitioning in the room where it runs. The temperatures are in the range of above 90F.

What should I do to keep my laptop healthy while running 24x7.

I have not shutdown the laptop since the past 5-6 days. Will it be harmful for the system?

I got Dell 8400.. I recently called dell and they made me take all wires out and they did't help me very well. NOW I M AT LIBRARY TO USE THE COMPUTER EVERYDAY. SOMEHOW IT TURNS ON RIGHT AND THEN THE NEXT DAY IT IS SAME. IT MAKES SO MUCH NOISE AND FEELs LIKE THE FAN is going to blow up! What should I do so I can turn my computer on very well... I have 3 SCSI hard drives from a Microsoft Windows 2003 server with lots of important information on them but no SCSI adaptable computer/server to extract the data. Should i buy a SCSI controller and connect the drives through my desktop on a SCSI controller or will gay windows want to reformat before even trying to read my data? Please help this is important information...

I put music on the shuffle with my lap top. Then I installed itunes on my desk top so I could listen to the shuffle on the desk top. It doesn't see the music on the shuffle. It asks me if I want to clear the shuffle and reload it with music on the desk top. the desk top has no music on it. I guess the problem could be that because i didn't use the itunes software that came with the shuffle (because i have a 4th generation 20GB) when i loaded the music the software can't read the shuffle. I also tried to play the music through media player.

I just noticed that my home computer's hard drive is nearly full. I don't have that many files stored (my music collection is 20GB). When I look at the size of the individual folders in Windows Explorer- the C:Documents&Settings folder is the main culprit (65GB); BUT, when I look at (and add up) the size of the individual subfolders and files that are IN the Docs&Settings folder, they only add up to 20GB. Please help!

the display of my acer 2310 flickers a lot and ths has increased since the past few days , the notebook is only 10 months old, and worse still I have been having this problem since last 3/4 months
the video driver is abosultly fine , what could be wrong ,

Had lighting hit the house, blew everything. Got my monitor working but the computer won't come on. It shows power, green light on the back is lit by the mastr plug in.The power supply box is good, how do I check the motherboard to see if thats whats wrong. Would like to re-cover the data I have stored on it. Any tech advice, someone who knows what they are talking about. I am computer savvy, tried the reg. stuff.

Had crashing problems - tried all sorts with no joy. Found BIOS reprting 80 deg c on processor today which might explain no error messages or reports - just a lock up that requires reset. Processor and CPU fans working OK.Had unusally warm temps over the last few weeks in SE of UK which would tie in with increase in crashing problems. Any ideas on getting temp down ? Is it possible for heatsink compound to fail ?

Hi, I have an Apple Mac G4 running Mac OSx10.3.9 I have recently run norton on it an now have Catlog B.Tree errors popping up but i have had these before now. What does it mean an what should i do to correct the problem?
