Calling it was my solution. Do you have a kid? I lost a cell phone once and my niece came over and you know how kids are. I turned around and looked at her and she had it in her hand. Look in your couch cushions, in your car, call around to places that you have been. If all else fails once you buy a new one you are sure to find the old one (a little too late of course).

OK, so they sold it on ebay, and it is turned off, or out of the service area, or already has become someone elses Clone!!!
Hope you catch the thieves! like this great story!
They got a criminal record, NOW, for not returning one!
The thief posted photos of the cellphone which automatically get sent to the owner's email, of his underaged sister, doing childporn. and the thief got caught, and is now serving time...

ask police men to call your number and locate it(but someone may be around your cell phone and pick it up

yeah call your service guys because the phones have the GPS trackers, but it ll only work if you turned it on
