I am in no dire need of a MacBook. I have my iBook, and it runs fine. A new computer certainly is, however, in my future, and I'm just about certain it will be the MacBook with Super Drive and upgraded internal HD to 120 GB and additional RAM. However, my dilemma stems from the free iPod nano deal they have now. Do I buy a MacBook now and save about $175 on my purchase by selling the iPod nano on eBay, or do I wait until the winter for potential upgrades? I don't really want to wait any longer than the end of 2006, so if there's no upgrades by then, I'll probably buy one anyway.

What would you do in my position? MacBook now or later?

Ok I've done my home work looking at laptops. My needs are pretty standard. I'm not worried about pre loaded software, but rather hardware. I won't play any games are do anything that I know of that takes alot of memory, but I do know one thing.......... I hate having to wait for things to boot up or stuff to load in!! So what kind of proceesor is recommended for speed. I am seeing prices around $850.00 for 1 GB DRAM, 100GB HD is an Intel CORE Dou processor 1.6 GHz a the best choice? Are there comparable processors that are cheaper? My price range is $800.00 - $900.00

I don’t really need a new networking card anymore, I actually have several spare ones lying around the house, but one thing I was always seemly curious about is that brands of these cards are typically always marketing them as "FAST, BLAZING SPEEDS",ect. You get the idea right? I've even seen some marketed to be faster than others with "benchmark" tests on the boxes, yet they always say something like the results were not typical or something.

My question is, is there really much of a different between brands/models of these cards (besides warranties and support), I realize that some of the cards seemly have been engineered to "go faster" when paired with a router from the same company, but I actually fail to see any difference in wireless networking products other than those. The fact of the matter is you actually wont get faster speeds to the internet over what your ISP provides you with.

I have got one 512 which is pc2100 spec bought from Maplins, the other 512 is Kingston, and is also pc2100 spec, now I cannot get my computer to boot up in dual channel, it says single channel, I have a Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 which is a socket 939. which clearly states that it supports dual channel DDR400, as the processor has built in memory controller as well, any idea's why I cannot get the computer to boot up in dual channel mode? Do I need to buy 400 spec memory for it to work or is there something I am doing wrong, there is no setting in the bios to enable this feature, and I am at a loss, Please can someone help?

What do you think I need to do in this situation?:

About 9 months ago, I bought an HP PC from Best Buy. They asked me if I wanted recovery disks made up, which I had them do. They set it up with the hard drive portioned, C: and D:, with D: being named “HP_Recovery”. The original OS was installed on C: and anything I installed, downloaded, temporary internet files, etc always went on C:. The PC crashed recently and I had to do a whole new install of XP. Now I notice that everything I install automatically goes on D: instead of C: and it looks like XP installed itself on D: as well. Since the C: partition is vastly larger, I’m now always getting warnings that D: is running out of space. Many of the apps I install, either from CD or websites, don’t even prompt me with destination options, they just install on D: instead of C:.

Now, I’m not even concerned about the recovery anymore, so last night, I tried to do an FDISK and just start all over, with no partitions. It wouldn’t let me do it because it told me that files were in use. I had nothing running, but I’m sure they were just windows system files to run the system. Do you have any idea how I can correct this?

I'm having a strange problem with my mouse. Twas working fine yesterday, but today, when I double-click to open a file, the search page opens instead. So when I right click on a file, I have to choose 'open' from the pop up menu in order to get into the file. It's just like 'search' and 'open' have changed priority. Very strange... and VERY ANNOYING. Can anyone help? I checked out the options in control panel and there's nothing there to do with it.. so I'm kinda flummoxed >: <
