It runs SLOW.... It really all depends on the user's. You WILL notice how slow it is when you run extensive programs. BUT most of the regular stuff like messaging, email, surfing, playing a small game, will run decent. Try and run anything fancy, and you'll see how slow it is.... I run a dual core 3ghz set up and it's pretty good speed, but not as fast as I would like it. This is my DAW system which I create music with, so I need it to be fast for all my music hardware..

OH and that one dude is wrong. ALL computers use the same hard drive connectors EXCEPT SATA drives. They use the newer connections. You can take a sound card (if it is a 3rd party one) and install it on any system and it work. The only thing really proprietary on HP/Compaq etc, are the memory sticks. Some of those computers, will not let you upgrade much, plus they put in the cheapest items that will cause unstabilities & unreliable usage in them.

OK for personal use.

AMD came out w/ Athlon THEN removed some of the higher speed coding.

If there is any way you could afford the 3200+ Athlon XP processor, I'd get IT.

Oh, and though h/p owns Compaq, they have different guts in the towers.

You cannot go out and buy a Compaq and down the road get an internal part (a HD, for example) unless it's designed for Compaq - the connector pins will not mate.

H/P uses standard parts. Computers are either h/p OR Compaq.

Mylady, asking such a question is similar to asking me, how good looking is a toyota car with four doors and four wheels? Well, I'll tell you that it all depends on what you want to do and what accessories/options you have chosen. It all depends on your needs.

Assuming that it has 512MB memory and an integrated video card, it should be more than enough if you want to surf a bit and watch a few movies.

Sorry, but unclear questions get unclear answers

I have a machine with the same processor... it runs pretty good.. Only problem i have noticed is that it heats up a lot. I had always been a pentium user and never had any complaints. I think if i buy another pc/laptop i will probably go back to Pentium. The new dual core technology is pretty cool. You should consier it.

Hey, that answer from radley1009 comes from an unstable dude that also created another profile under John D who asks that bank robbery question over and over. He's a real weirdo who stalked me through my open question to tell me to f*ck off because I told him repeat postings weren't in the rules. Whoever tells him to knock it off, he checks their profile and will say something rude to. He truly deserves to have his account closed; he's a low-life.
