Hardware - August 2006

My pc was slowing down, so I reformatted and reinstalled XP and the rest of my software. My problem is that I have two other hard drives, and now, although they are detected in the BIOS and show up in Device Manager, Windows XP cannot see them.
I'd like a solution that DOESN'T involve reformatting them, as they have loads of music and other data on them.

Sony Vaio - desktop PCV-RX550. Came with 256 mb, SDRAM, expandable to 512 - which I have already done. Is there any way I can add more memory (such as external card or drive) without changing the mother board. Computer works great, and I hate to have to upgrade just to get more memory! hi every1..

i'm havin trouble recently with my computer, when i press the power button, i hear the computer working but nothing appears on the screen, i thought it might be the screen so i tried it on another monitor, still didn't work, wut could be wrong??

it's not a laptop..

- i hear no beeps when the cpu starts..
- the LEDs on the keyboard doesn't light at all.
- The fans r running and i think the hard is running too..

I've got Plextor PX-712A DVD Rewriter and was working fine until recently. The problem I have it that the device reads and writes CD's and DVD's fine but has only problem reading and writing CD-RW's. The thing just wont read and just keep blinking over and over.
It writes fine bot DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW and CD-R's as well but when it comes to CD-RW it just wont read. Please help me because my warranty on the product just expired a few weeks back.

I have an old, bulky computer monitor at home and I want to get rid of that. I am tempted of just leaving it in the curb, like most people do. But I heard that old monitors contain lead that could leak into the ground or air and cause environment havoc. So help me out here please.
