it's more than just that. their processors are different, their RAM modules are different. the slots are different. it's even more different than a PC and a Mac. the two worlds are not compatible. you can't take hardware outta one and use it in the other. and even though both of them could run similar flavors of Unix, you will likely have to tweak your application before porting it to the other architecture. the other major difference is the Sun sells Sun servers and HP sells HP servers ;-)

The main difference between Sun and HP servers is that SUN Servers work only on SOLARIS which is a flavour of Unix and we can not install WIndows on that.

In HP we can install any software, that is HP UX another flavour of Unix or either Windows server operating system.
