I need a wireless router for my MacBook with an Airport Extreme Wireless card installed.

What's the difference between the Airport Express Router and the Airport Extreme Base Station (802.11n) Gig Ethernet? As a person using this at home with 1 Mac, which one would be best?

Thanks!

Using my present broadband modem, I have 2 computers and a landline telephone in use all at once. I changed to a cheaper system and found I could only use one computer at a time. The phone is out of service also. It never occurred that this would happen. I'm stuck with this contract for 18 months now.

my download speed tests show that an average download speed is about 165-170 KB/s. But when I try to download larger files like 400MB, it takes more than 5 hrs at a speed of about 40-50 KB/s?! is this normal? what can i do to improve if there is a way.

this happens not in a torrent download, just regular rapidshare and megaupload type

I've followed the setup instructions which are easy to follow ( I think). I've tried their website and called but just ended up on hold forever.

I simply can't get online through the router. I'm running WindowsXP.

Thanks for any help...

I've installed Windows Vista and I'm trying to make my ASUS WL-138g PCI Adapter 802.11g work so that it can pick up the wireless network and connect to the internet. It works great on my XP but when I installed the drivers from the CD to Vista and after restarting the computer, I get this error when I try to open the ASUS connection program:

The procedure entry point iphlpapi.IcmpSendEcho could not be located in the dynamic link library ICMP.dll

Any help please.

Like when you type in an ip, and you get the user/password window.

Well what can you actually see from that? Can you see what devices have been using your internet? Can you see what people have been surfing w/ that router's internet?

What else can you do?

I Think The modem is the charter box that plugs into the cable that gives me internet access.

I have been unpluging it and my router when i turn my computer off. But i have left the cables pluged in.

Is it alright to not unplug those things?

And Leave it running 24/7? (The MOdem And Router)

Thanks?

I just got another new computer and my old network adapter isnt working [picking up connection from the comp with router] because windows vista isnt compatible with my old adapter, so my adapter isnt even recognized.

now im wondering how to figure out which adapters are compatible with my WCG200 linksys router/modem
its a wireless-g thing so i dont know if that has anything to do with it

but someone please tell me some network adapters i could maybe find at bestbuy that would work with my router. thanks

I want to use it on both my desktop and laptop. I have a broadband connection currently (a CAT 5 cable) coming directly into the LAN port of my desktop PC.
I want to share this with my laptop.
Which wireless router should I go for ? (it's for home use, so do not require a very big range)

It would be great if you could tell the actual physical connection (i.e. cable coming from outsidde to router and so on...) and how can I use it wirelessly on my laptop(which has the capabilities for sure)

Thank you.

Trying to use laptop wireless at home. (windows XP on HP lptop) I use a Netgear booster that slides into cardslot and that's how I connect at hotels w/no probs.
I have found/entered the key from modem to WEP field. I have a strong connection (green symbol) but cannot acquire network address.
Run-CMD-IPCONFIG/all shows no gateway address.
Connecting strait with ethernet cable to computer allows connection.
Tried disabling Norton, that had no effect.
When TROUBLESHOOT is attemtped, it hangs on "Renewing your IP address"
The integrated Broadcom 802.11g and the Netgear card are both enabled.
Under Network Connections the Broadcom says "not connected' and theunder the Netgear icon it says "limited or no connectivity"
Modem works because my PC is connected to it.
Modem is a newer 2Wire (sold to me by Att repairman about 6mos ago)
Any tips would be appreciated.
