i need one that can hook up to my computer with long cables
im new to all this all i want is Xbox Live! tell me name and link on amazon.com and maybe any other things i might need i dont have dile up or wifi i have the new dsl that is ast and uses cables and all that junk

Your DSL should have come with a MODEM!!!! If not there is no FREE modem and the best one to use is the one that your ISP/DSL provider tells you to use!
Now if you mean router, any of the DSL/Cable routers cost money. If you need to connect more than one thing at a time, you need a router to connect to the modem once it is setup and working.
I wish I could be of more help but the word FREE for any of these items has me confused.. ???
