I have a Laptop and so does my brothers, our internet is connected up to the main computer, so we all have bt broadband, the thing is my brother can look and see what i've been browsing on my compueter by looking on his computer, the thing is i want to know how he's doing that

Probably he's not looking at your computer. Maybe if he had physical access for a while, and set up remote desktop, but more likely he's checking the cache on the router.

Look. spend a little time googling the term "Proxy Server" you might find out a few things...

Possibly (especially if using pre XP Windows) you have shares enabled and don’t use (or have poorly configured) firewall. Otherwise it would mean he have you hacked - spyware/Trojan or some remote agent as VCN installed on your box. Setting Remote Desktop on your PC as mentioned in previous post wuld be possibility too.
I assume you mean by “browsing on my computer” – he sees what you do on PC (as your screen and such) – as oppose to where you browsing on Internet.
To see you Internet activity, unfortunately all which is needed is packet sniffer (doesn’t require hacking or shares –can be done totally passively). To prevent second scenario use VPN - this will encrypt you entire Internet communication (proxy would not help at all - unless by "proxy" you mean third computer set as proxy on LAN).. To obtain good quality service, it have to be expected, service would require monthly fees: approximately in $10/month range. Free service here:

(because its free, it usually lags connection badly at occasions it is hard/impossible to connect to it at all)

Other way of preventing sniffing, would be to buy second router, and connect as follow:
1)Main router connected to you and second router
2)Second router connected to brothers PC
