ok i just got a nes router and i have a modem and the interenet works fine but when i hook up the router the internet doesnt connect any ideas
p.s. its a netgear router siemens modem
and my internet provider is att

Pardon my ignorance, but is ATT DSL or cable modem?
For cable modems, most folks will have to power off their
cable modems for about 5 minutes. For DSL, you'll have to
fiddle with some router settings and cable connections. If
ATT offers a wireless router, you could spend the money and
upgrade.

I would check your router literature. You may need a different ethernet cable (called a patch cable) which is wired differently than a normal ethernet cable. Secondly, one of the router ports (usually #1) is designated for the modem-to-router interface.

Try unplugging both the modem and the router for 30 sec. then reconnect both at the same time, wait about a minutes and see if it works.

You have to configure the router one time for it to work

Check you Public IP Address, Subnet and DNS settings.
