I Think The modem is the charter box that plugs into the cable that gives me internet access.

I have been unpluging it and my router when i turn my computer off. But i have left the cables pluged in.

Is it alright to not unplug those things?

And Leave it running 24/7? (The MOdem And Router)

Thanks?

Sure. There are only two times you should be concern with leaving it on:

1. If you are in an area that has alot of electric storm (lighting strikes) then you should at a minimum use a surge suppressor.

2. If this is a wireless router then you should enable your security features such that no one uses your connection.

its fine to keep it running 24/7. it might last longer if you turn it off every once in a while but by the time it dies you'll probably want a new one anyways. if your worried about hackers you should just be sure you have virus software. turning your modem off when your not using it wont help. hackers will be stealing information when your on the computer typing in your credit card number not when your away from your computer.

You will notice that most of these modems, don't have a power switch. They are designed to be plugged in all the time, especially if it is a VOIP modem.
