How to build one? Is it as simple as getting 9 wire phone cable, connecting the correct conectors at the ends? I am needing a cable that is 150 feet long, but have not found one on the internet yet. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm taking a road trip, and with the way everyone's addicted to web access nowadays, I thought it would be cool if I surprised everyone with web access as we hit the road. That way, 1 person could be using a laptop to surf, another could be playing PS2 (I have one in the car) on the web, and another could be playing PSP on the web, etc, etc.

I'm pretty familiar with basic computer networking, but I haven't heard of any products that I could use to do this. If I get one of those wireless access cards from a cell phone company, then I'll only be able to connect a laptop to the web. All the routers I've seen need an Ethernet connection to the web.
Is there a router that can use a USB port for a web connection? Or does anyone know of a way to make a computer act as a router so that other wireless devices can access the web?
If money and time weren't objects I'm sure this would be possible, but I'm trying to keep this under a couple hundred bucks and be able to install this fairly quickly

Hie all !
I work for a networking company that offers WAN connectivity to clients. It's also an ISP.Im doing some documentation of all our customers. It's an Excel spreadsheet with the following fields : Customer Name, Device type(A Node), Port (A Node), Device type( B Node), Port(B Node). The customer connects to us via the A node device(e.g Cisco 2950) and the B node is the device at our POP(vdsl, radio, cisco e.t.c). Im trying to come up with a naming convention for the circuit numbers. The circuit number will be a short way of describing the link that the customer has. And they can call to us refering to that circuit in case of a fault. The circuit number should help support stuff in identifying where the link coming from and where it is going. It should also give a hint on who's leasing that link e.t.c It should be as short as possible. Im stuck guys pliz help.

Another question, is there a way I can send a message to an individual that replies to my question?

Well, I'm replying the same way to everyone: Come on, you can't honestly tell me that this kind of stuff is useful. This stuff is pure stupid and only hardware freaks are interested in knowing how many pins some wire has.

Okay, I made me one of them there "perfect servers" using Ubuntu 7.10 and I need to have the DNS working on the thing.
Now, my bind is chrooted to /var/lib/named.
I have my nodes null and random up in there.
I have all the /etc/default/bind9 file configured to point to the jail.
I have the log files working.
I have resolv.conf.options set to point to a known working name server.
I HAVE NO ZONES except the nulls,
In short the thing would appear to be configured right.
There is little or nothing to get in the way.

But it DOES NOT RESOLVE. Not no how not no way.

Anybody out there think they might know what's up? Port 53 seems to be passing traffic just fine,...

I am open to wild ideas here.

One think to help along the way... The thing was okay, when it lived at a different IP address, but now that it is where it is supposed to be, nada.

Any latent configuration files that might giving me lip?

Im using a laptop, with a d-link dwa-130 network card...its running on a "N" network so it should be really quick. My router is fast as well, and im running on Verizon FiOS as my ISP.

Problem is, my internet is around 12mpbs in my room, and drops completely every now and then. Im completely fine when im near the router, but in my room (70 feet away with a wall in between the router and my laptop). We tried a D-link repeater and that didnt work neither. What should i do?

I have a Dell server and 7 workstations + 3 printers. We are planning on getting a static ip address so we can access the server and other workstations remotley, also we need to have the printers on the network. i am confused if i need to buy a static ip address for each equipment or if i can just get one static ip address and assign it to the router then have the router assign an ip address for each equipment and in this case would the router assign a static ip address to the stations and server or is it gonna be dynamic...
thanks very much for your help...

A network problem may be temporarily preventing you from streaming or downloading full-length tracks. Try signing in to your account later. If this problem persists for more than one day, contact customer care.
