Im using a laptop, with a d-link dwa-130 network card...its running on a "N" network so it should be really quick. My router is fast as well, and im running on Verizon FiOS as my ISP.

Problem is, my internet is around 12mpbs in my room, and drops completely every now and then. Im completely fine when im near the router, but in my room (70 feet away with a wall in between the router and my laptop). We tried a D-link repeater and that didnt work neither. What should i do?

Try installing a wireless range extender to extend the range of your wireless network connection. Also check the channel on your wireless router. Sometimes if a neighbor nearby broadcasts the same channel number as yours it will interfere with one another. Also a cordless phone or microwave that is nearby will interfere also. Check your phone lines to make sure there are DSL filters on all the phone lines in your house. Try rebooting or resetting your dsl modem and reboot your computer. Chances that will solve any issues you are having.

A lot of things can effect the power/range of wireless. Usually one wall (drywall) will not have a huge effect. But many other things can cause issues. Wireless phones (GHZ phones) can interfere (try other wireless channels), also if the wall is an older plaster wall it may diminish the signal. Try to make sure the router is in a open spot, away from the monitors, TV's, and other electrical devices. This will help, but without knowing the exact setup it's tough for me to offer other ideas.

Tear down the wall that separates the router from the laptop or move the laptop closer to the router.

I mean, c'mon, wireless signals can only go thru so much, and they will only go so far. First you might try relocating the router and/or re-orienting it. Maybe raise the laptop some.

Hmm...a repeater. Doesn't that just repeat the signal, meaning it can still loose signal strength? Maybe I am wrong, I thought a "booster" did the trick.
