No matter how fast your local connection (100mbps, gigabit etc), it's your connection to the Internet that limits you.. most consumer DSL and cable connections run between 1-3 mbps, which is far below the 100mbps maximum of your network card. The only time you'll get full 100mbps is doing stuff locally on your home network, like copying files between your desktop and laptop. As soon as you start communicating over the Internet to reach Facebook, Google, etc, your broadband connection speed limits you.

its 100Mbps, but thats your connection from your PC to your router or modem. It has absolutely nothing to do with the speed to myspace.com or any other website. That speed is determined by your ISP and your repsonse time is determined by a number of factors from your pc, internet access to the website servers.

Internally at myspace and most other website companies, I am sure they are running at gigabit speeds.

100Mbps means 100MegaBitsPerSecond. Usually it defines how fast is your network connection.
