I have 8mb broadband provided by virgin media on adsl (phoneline not cable).

I know that i may not get the maximum 8mb and seem to be getting just 7.4mb - which is still pretty good as they can only gaurantee 'up to 8mb'.

I currently use a wired thompson usb modem which gives me the 7.4mb connection speed, its on a usb 1.0 connection and seems to go pretty well, its also using a 15 metre adsl cable i bought for £16

If i use a wireless router and usb adaptor (which would still be on usb 1.0 so no faster there) it would be connected at 54mps instead of 7.4, but surely this is just the connection to the router and not the connection to the adsl which would still be 7.4???

so which is going to make programs on the PC perform faster - usb modem or wireless router and adaptor??

I have a couple of questions.

1) What ADSL 2/2+ router do you recommend to use?
2) Is there a gadget out there that let's you share a USB printer without using a computer to share it?

If anyone can help, that would be great.

People are starting to come home from summer and my neighborhood is FILLED with wireless networks. So everytime people start getting on, it is HELL to keep a stable steady connection. I am constantly getting disconnected, the signal always degrades no matter what channel I put it on, and this gets worse whenever my brother and sister in the next rooms get on or my neighbors come home. Is there a way to block out all these extra signals from my neighbors or perhaps reduce interference? If not, is there a way to increase my QoS (quality of signal)?

I use an access mdb on a Server based network running Server 2003. Both the front ends and the back end files are on the server. Six standalone workstations on the network use shortcuts to their individual front ends and all share the back end tables. Although the server and the PCs are very fast computers, I still experience long delays at times in working with the database. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The router is a: Buffalo Wireless G 125 High-Speed. I have Comcast High-Speed Internet. I need to get the internet to work! Can you tell me how to fix it?

I live in a country with no broadband access, the fastest option currently available is ISDN.

I heard someone mention the possibility of securing 2 ISDN connections for their office (128kbps each one) and combining them to make a 'virtual' 512 connection.

Is this possible?

I can't access the internet neither on the computer that the router is connected to nor wirelessly with any other ones.

I've setup my wireless router using the setup Wizard and the web-based utility, and I've tested my connections in command prompt. when I ping 192.168.1.1, all packets are recieved, and when I ping the WAN IP, all packets are recieved, but when I ping www.yahoo.com, it fails.

the power, WLAN, ethernet 1 and internet lights are lit on the router and my modem is connected to the router's internet port, while the computer is connected to port #1.

I've also upgraded the firmware, but still, no internet. Am I still missing something?

After that, I can't seem to connect to the internet on the non-host computer. How am I supposed to update the changed WEP key on the Host computer? I don't see where to change it. Do I also have to save it to my router? How then? Any help is greatly appreciated~
