People are starting to come home from summer and my neighborhood is FILLED with wireless networks. So everytime people start getting on, it is HELL to keep a stable steady connection. I am constantly getting disconnected, the signal always degrades no matter what channel I put it on, and this gets worse whenever my brother and sister in the next rooms get on or my neighbors come home. Is there a way to block out all these extra signals from my neighbors or perhaps reduce interference? If not, is there a way to increase my QoS (quality of signal)?

Well you could switch to 802.11a which is on 5 gig instead of 2.4. It cost a little more but is less congested.

Depending on your wireless setup tool you can set the preferred order of the connections to use and maybe even it to ignore others. If the signal is weak try to position your computer with the best line-of-sight to the router. The more walls, floors and doors there are between points, the weaker the signal will be. You can also adjust the angle of the antennas to get a stronger signal if you are on a different floor from the router. If the problem is that your siblings are hogging the bandwidth, then you have to beat them up and uninstall their (or your) p2p applications. Also, make sure you aren't leaving any file sharing apps running when you aren't using them, they will pass other peoples traffic through your PC when it is running which can eat up your bandwidth.

approximately 50 ft, frequently. It relies upon on what form you have. i understand that my neighbor, from around the line, genuinely, can get entry to my Linksys router, and that's a minimum of 50 ft; she tells me the relationship isn't so great, however. The form I purchaes wasn't particularly costly, and that i think of it is going to be particularly regular. I even have got here upon that partitions do no longer pose loads of a difficulty; flooring and ceilings, despite if, are a various remember, and get entry to interior the basement is very dreadful. despite if, i will use my laptop interior the exterior and it works nice.

You might want to consider going back to a wired connection. They're less convenient, but there ain't no interference.
