I recently moved a wireless PC out of the house to a shop outside. I'm getting 11mps speed and sometimes I'm losing the connection. How can I improve speed and connection on the PC in the shop. (The shop is about 150ft from the house).

you are too far away. you need to be closer to the router to get a good signal to improve your speed and signal strength. The other consideration would be to try an N based router instead of a G.

As the previous person said, you are too far away. You said your router operates at 11 Mbps, which would imply it uses the 802.11b standard. Even an 802.11g might not help the situation much because both of these standards have a range of about 115 feet.

As the previous person mentioned, an 802.11n-capable router has roughly twice the range. This type would probably cost about $100 US or more, and you'd have to make sure your wireless card supports this standard (such a card would likely cost $100 US or less).

The addition of better antennas will help. See if you can find a pair that are around 7db or so. Also, if this shop has metal siding, that will cut your signal quite a bit. You could also set up a "connection" point. Basically an extra wireless router in the middle, to receive and boost your signal.

With wireless, the farther you are away from the router, the weaker your signal, (connection) gets. You can improve your wireless signal by buying better antennas, or repeaters. You could even buy or construct a home made cantenna ( http://www.cantenna.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantenna) to boost you wireless connections strength and performance.
