Remeber, there are two different connectios you need to make.

The first that is seems you have working is the connection from the computer to the router.

The other is the internet connection from the router to the Broadband modem.

I dont know what router and type of internet you are using so I will give you the generics. First here is how it needs to be all wired.

-Cable from the wall to the Broadband modem
-Ethernet Cable from the Broadband Modem to the Wireless Routers WAN (Internet) Port (Not a ethernet Port)

Turn on the Modem and the router. All the LED's on the modem should go on and eventually be always on, with the exception of the LAN LED which should be blinking.

Since you say you already have a connection wirelessly then goto your computer and open your Internet Browser. Most routers have a IP address of 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
Check the install guide for your router to find out which.

It will then ask you for your username and password to log into your router. Unless you have changed it check the install guide for the router to find what the default Username and password is.

Once you are in the routers configuration pages look for the WAN Setup section. It will ask you what type of internet connection you have. If you use Cable then select the Dynamic IP option and save the settings.

If you have DSL select the PPPOE Option and put in the username and password you use to connect to your ISP in the fields and save your settings.

Reboot the router and that should give you access to the internet.

Unplug your computer, modem and your router. Leave them unplugged for 60 seconds, then plug them back in. After you do that, hold in the reset button, on the back of your router, for 30 seconds, with a pen, then release. Now give it another try..Good Luck..

You're prolly connected to the network, but your router might not be configured for the internet. Your router needs configuring.

Give a bit more detail and we might be able to help. Just because your wireless connection shows connected does not mean it is able to communicate with other machines, it means it can communicate with the wireless carrier.
