I live in southern california and for the past six years I have been using dial up internet because there was no dsl in my area. I kept having a problems with people trying to call me on my home phone because I was online using dial up internet and causing my phone line to be busy.

Last year, I was able to get Road Runner in my area from Time Warner. Installation took about two to three hours from a professional installer who came to the house and install a cable line from the electrical pole to the house. Now I am able to use the internet at a faster speed compared to DSL and my phone line is never in use since Road Runner operates on a cable line and not from the telephone line. The cost is about $44.95 a month which to me is worth it with the speed and service.

Cable is quicker by a small margin, at least in my area, for the base plan on each. You should be able to pay more for them to open up more bandwith. Its just a simple modem that you plug a coax cable into, power and then to your computer. Pretty simple.

maximum any broadband on the spot router could artwork. one factor to observe once you first connect the router is that the modem recollects the MAC handle of your pc that replaced into before linked and your router won't get an IP till you the two capability off the modem (alongside with removing its battery if it has one) for a jiffy, or you are able to clone the MAC handle of your pc on the router (in case you think of you should to alter between the router or an instant connection devoid of the router).
