Computer Networking - March 2007

Hello,

I have asked this question to all around me but without solution. So you are my last resort.

Here is my home network config:
2 PC
1 LAPTOP
1 switch
1 DSL router

All went fine until recently. One of my PC is unable to stay connected on the switch. It shows it is connecting and disconnecting all the time. All the others are OK. So I checked the cable, checked the switch, changed the NIC, changed the PCI slot, disable the power management of the NIC. Nothing helped. Even disconnecting all the other PC from the switch and just keeping the the problematic PC and the uplink connected does not solve the problem.

The only thing that helps is when I am connecting that PC directly to the DLS router.

Any idea, hint or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

I've got a little light on the side of my laptop which indicates that the wireless card it working (I think it's bluetooth, built-in), but when I go to command and enter "ipconfig /all" or "ipconfig /renew", it says my media is disconnected.
Also, when I go to connect to my regular wireless point, I can't connect. Note: this is definitely a problem with this computer, not the wireless internet provider or router.
I think this happened when I accidentally tried to set up a home network on XP.
What can I do to fix this?
Please, ASAP
Thanks

This is for the computer saavy. I recented purchased a Belkin wireless router. The problem is that I have to connect one end of the cable into my dsl router (no problem) and the other end into the telephone splitter (problem). I need a cable that has a dsl plug on one end and a regular phone plug on the other. Is there any such thing, and if so where can I purchase it?

I understand it needs a laser-like focus that leaves children, spouses and hobbies by the way side.

I just bought a desktop w/ Vista. I have a Laptop w/ XP. They are both connected to a Linksys wireless router, which is compatible w/ Vista and XP and has the latest firmware. I already installed the LLTD protocol on the XP laptop. Is see my laptop in the network on the vista desktop, but when I click on it, the music library from the desktop, NOT the laptop pops up. What in the world is going on? How can I fix this ridiculous problem and get the two PCs to communicate? Please help.

I've got a new office printer, an HP 2015D. It is network ready but no built-in WiFi or bluetooth. This is strictly a black-white laser printer. I want to connect it to my laptop via bluetooth versus WiFi because while my employer is OK with bluetooth devices they frown on personal WiFi networks. I really don't want to set it up on our company ethernet either.

So I see that HP, Belkin, and others make bluetooth printer "hubs" that slip into the USB port of the printer. My question is, do I have to get one of those specific hubs? Why can't I just get any bluetooth usb transmitter/receiver and plug it into the printer then connect to my laptop? At it's basic bluetooth is just a wireless 2-way communication tool right?

I'm probably missing something but I look forward to your help.

Hi,

I have ADSL broadband with BT through my phone line. They supplied an ADSL router (Voyager 210 router). Now i want to make this wireless and I already have a D-Link Wireless G router. So my question is...do I need to connect the D-Link wireless router to the normal Voyager router supplied by BT to make my a wirelss LAN..or do I just need to use my wireless router instead and leave the normal Voyager one out of the network altogether??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went through XP's "Setup a Home or small office network" wizard and now I can't connect to the internet. I don't know what it is I did, but I just want to undo it. If I set up a home network (somehow), where can I spot it and get rid of it?
I tried system effing restore but it told me it can't restore to that point, even though it shows that date as a restore point. Yeah, I know, go figure.. Windows..
Also, when I try ipconfig it just tells me everything is disconnected, and I can't even get an IP address or anything.

Please, I'm desperate.

My company recently went from a peer network and added a server. I have not spent much time with server networks but am the inhouse IT man. Now the company wants me to route the internet connection through the server instead of the router we are currently using. Any help would be great
