Hi I would like one my computers to connect to a domain name when I log in. I would like to know how to create my main server as a domain. Any advice would be great =)

You can make them part of a workgroup but other than that you need a computer that runs active directory or samba. Windows xp does not do that you need server 2000 or 2003 or vista server version. Linux runs samba but that is a whole different animal.

A domain in the Windows world is different from a domain in the Internet world.

To connect to a Windows domain, you'll need a server (Win2K Server or Win2K3 Server) that runs Active Directory and is a Domain Controller.

You can't create a domain using only WinXP machines. Sorry.

If your "main computer" is a windows server machine then you need to do the active directory setup....if it;s just a workstation*(xp) then you can;t....

go to control panel @ system ..

there is Computer Name tab click there

on bottom you will see NETWORK ID

on that you ENTER your domain name and join with

user name and password
