the main difference between an apple and mac is usually the OS a pc usually will use windows whereas a mac will use apple's own OS (these days its called its newer versions OSX). A pc is more flexible as it allows you to use a lot of open source software, freeware and different OSes in dual boot mode(where you can load 2 different OSes in the same computer). Mostly (im not very sure about this) a pc can be either branded or assembled whereas i think mac systems only come assembled from apple. Also the earlier macs were based on the powerpc series from IBM but now the latest ones come intel based. whereas a pc can use any sort of processor.in conc. the best system at this time(for an average user) would be a pc basically cuz of the flexability involved as its easier to find software compatible with Linuz/Windows than mac
