yes! click on apple icon, go to system preferences >> click on network icon >> under Location box, choose your connection name >> the go to PPPOE tab >> click on PPPOE options button >> under SESSION Options put a check mark under connect automatically when needed then uncheck the other box >> dont touch the advanced options >> click OK >> then SAVE

yes, go to internet options (in the control panel)

then connections, then you can select the keep this connection active when i close inet explorer

or something similar to that
