my router will bounce me off and right back on the internet, after a power outage. (even if the lights just flicker on and off)
i used to only have problems with it for a day, then it would straighten around and be fine after that. now it goes on for days. i had a new wire brought into the house, just for internet, and that helped for a while, now i'm back to the problem again. day after day. its a huge issue because i can't play games with friends, as it stops the game, even though i sign right back in. what can i do. its a d-link router, i bought it new and its only a couple of years old.

Hi linux users, i am having a bit of a problem with my SuSE linux 9.2.
I have a wireless card on my laptop and the ipw-firmware installed on linux. Wireless used to work perfectly without any problem. It used to detect the wireless networks and connect to the open network at university and i was able to use the internet. Now for some reason, i still do get the IP address by DHCP but internet doesn't work and i cannot ping even the broadcast address. I tried local area network with wired cat5 cable connecting 2 laptops, set the IP manually or automatically by DHCP, i am able to ping but i can't access the web. I have apache server on linux and connected with windows laptop. I can ping from windows to linux but can't access the apache using 192.168.0.1/htdocs/myproject

Please guide me where i am going wrong.

Thanks

One of my desktops has two ethernet cards. one i use to connect to the dsl modem and the other to connect the laptop to the desktop.everything is good and connected but the laptop gives a message saying limited or no connection. but the desktop is doing just fine. I did the whole set up my network thing and I'm sure i did it right because I've been doing it before.

Why won't it work?

Just doubled in size by acquiring your number one competitor in the same city. There are now two corporate buildings, on opposite sides of the city. Both will be used, and need to be tied together with a network. Management’s vision is that each site can be a disaster-recovery site for the other, so that if one goes up in flames, the other site can run the company. Assume that the server administrators will address the need for redundant systems, and will manage backups and data replication as needed. To supply connectivity, what network connectivity do you propose between the sites? How will this support the disaster-recovery vision and the need to replicate data between the sites?
