This is pretty simple.. Although I have a few questions.

What is WPA2 Mixed Mode
WPA2 Personal
WEP

Only reason why i bought the router was because My girlfriend has a laptop that I wanted to get wireless for.

Soo, which security would you use? Whats the difference?

Has anyone figured out how to circumvent this yet? Every thread I've seen is somewhere between 1-4 years old, none have a viable solution, just a couple of quick/dirty workarounds for specific applications, none of which serve my purpose (if you need to know this, ask and I'll explain).

I have a laptop and want to be able to get online from anywhere I am. I have heard of Sprint of T Mobile cards, but don't really know much about them. Does anyone know which is better and what kind of price I am looking at paying. Thanks

I have 3 Servers All Hosting Websites, no domains or anything, all three have static IP addresses

ServerA - Hosted at data center
ServerB - Hosted at same data center consecutive IP addresses
BackupServer - Run from my house

I just replaced ServerA with a new machine.

Before the switch all three servers talked to each other and could see the websites run on any of the servers.

After the switch BackupServer and ServerA cannot see or communicate with each other at all. I.e. BackupServer cannot open the site hosted on ServerA and vice versa.

BackupServer can see ServerB's site and vice versa. ServerB can see ServerA's site and vice versa.

All other machines can see the sites of all three servers so the sites seem to be operating normally.

Can anyone give me any idea of settings, configurations or anything I could possibly look at to explain the lack of connection between ServerA and BackupServer? Any pointers would be very helpful! Thanks much.

I was wondering if your IP address changed at all, or if it stays the same for as long as you have your computer? For instance, I've had my computer for two years now..would my IP be the same as it was when I first got my computer? How often do they change if they change at all?

I have DSL, and sometimes when I reset my connection, it tells me that my IP has been renewed, does that mean that my IP has changed? Sorry if these questions are dumb, but I've searched and can't quite seem to find the answers..

and also, what kind of information exactly can a person find out about you if they have your IP address? Could they find out where you live/your name/email? Any personal stuff? Or could they just send virus's and what-not to your IP to mess up your computer?

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, I appreciate your help! :)

So I have my PC hooked up wirelessly, and then I have my router (linksys) hooked up to the pc through WAN using internet sharing on my lan card. my router should create a wireless network to supply internet and a network to share files. (My complex has provided wireless internet but cant share files bewteen computers, for virus reasons, but I would like to take that internet and create a network)

The desktop has vista, the laptop has XP, I set up the router on the desktop and both the computers got on the internet. Next day, no internet on either computer. I unhooked and rehooked and and voila internet, next day no internet. The router says it can't find the ethernet card with Vista, but the dsl works and it's hooked up to the ethernet. Even though Vista says it can't find the ethernet, I've had it working 2 different times. It's my friends computer so I'm not sure of the router brand. Is the brand important for you to be able to answer my question.
