I live in a Apartment complex, I have a router (linksys wrt54G using dd-wrt firmware) I would like that to pickup the wireless signal and sent it to my computers wirelessly. I don't want to connect to the computers to the complex's, but connect my computers to my router. Please tell me how.

You could connect a wireless repeater to the wireless in your building using the building SSID, then connect your routers WAN port to the repeaters wired port. Then configure the wireless on your router on a different channel with a different SSID that your local computers would connect to. I have never tried to do anything like this, so no guarantees. If your end goal is just to share files, setting up one of your machines as a webserver or ftp server would probably be easier.

EDIT
Correct, you need another device. The wireless in the router is not designed to function as an uplink.
Or you could connect your devices in an ad-hoc network for file sharing, then change back to the building for internet access.

I not sure what you saying. The Apartment have Wireless, but, you want to use your router? I think you just need to set your Card to Detect your Router. If, you see your Wireless bottom right on computer click on it and make changes to how it connect. Write down what you do, so, if you mess something up you can at least get it back to the way it was.

ok i got you now. You dont have you own connection at home you live in a complex using their internet. You should however be able to run in your my network places "home or small office network" to share files between your 2 pcs. Run it on both pcs and choose the same workgroup name for both (dont use the default mshome) this should allow you to share files but you still wont be using your router. Routers dont pick up wireless signals they only emit them. Share the files in adhoc mode.

you need a wireless bridge/wireless repeater for such a thing, which would also require you to know what make/model the remote wireless adapter is...
OR..
screw using the router and just get a PCI wireless card for your PC, and leach away..

this is however illegal if you dont already have permission to use said wireless connection..

i'm no longer probably optimistic how cellular one/AT&T does this, yet a "hotspot" is everywhere the place instantaneous networking is obtainable so certainly, in case you have wireless on your telephone (instantaneous constancy) then your telephone ought to artwork alongside with your linksys

Routers don't do this. What you need is a transceiver. Refer to the link below...
