I am registering a domain name for a friend. It asks me to input a bunch of information, such as name, email, address, phone number, etc...

Is it possible to change this information at a later date? Say in three months I don't want that site to have my name associated with it. How easy is it to change the registration info?

I have a dlink wireless router that supports up to four lan computers. The problem is I need to connect a non-wireless laptop, two tivos and an xbox 360 to the network as well. So currently I'm using one of the dlinks ports to connect to a second linksys router to connect to the rest of the items. It works and all the items on the second router have access to the internet however none have access to my main network ont he dlink. Is there a way around this or something I'm doing wrong? Your help with be greatly appreciated.

It worked fine for three weeks and then I kept getting the limited connectivity message. I've been told to uninstall Norton Internet Security, then Internet Explorer Version 7 as apparently these could affect connectivity. However, this did not solve the problem. If I unplug the livebox and then plug it in again it connects but I lose connection if I switch off my computer and sometimes if I close Internet Explorer. At other times it just disconnects even if I leave my computer and IE on. Can anyone help as I'm going out of my mind?

My internet connection works on both computers my desktop and my laptop. The problem with my laptop is it says aquiring the address and if I put the network key it, which is the correct key, it will say limited or no connectivity. What does that mean? and what can I do to fix the problem? Do I have to change my router settings? I have it set to automatically find the ip.

I have 6 blank internal IDE hard drives totaling around 800 GB. Is there a way I can use this as common storage for all the computers on my home wired/wireless network? I'm not really interested in installing them into my desktop computers to share that way. I want them accessible by all computers at all times.

Right now I have a network hard drive with 1 usb hard drive plugged into the back of it. This has given me 240 GB of shared storage for all my computers. I would now like to use my blank internal IDE hard drives to add to this. Any suggestions? I'd like this to be as inexpensive as possible.

I'm also open to other cool suggestions of what I can do with these hard drives.

The connection is not mine and I 'take' from an unsecured connection in my area. It was never a problem until very recently and I wondered what could be the cause of the failure to connect even though the icon shows it is ok. The wireless card is in good order and my laptop was used this way at a friends house and was also working ok. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi there,

In my Bromley office we have five computers that seem to connect to what we call the Z: drive where we save most documents to for all the other computers to share.

What I want to do is set this same connection up in my other office. In my other office there are three computers I want to use one as a server like my Bromley office and have the other two connect to it.

Please could anyone give me some advice on what to do or step by step instructions on how to set this up would be fantastic.

I have an intern that I want to be able to install software on computers through the network and join them to the network. I have found the option for adding computers to domain, but what permissions do I give them so that they can install software. I really don't want to make them an administrator. Thanks.

I'm running a network for a small company until we get a sysadmin, here's a little background:

We have a Gentoo linux server and a windows 2003 server linked with samba. All the client machines have their internet access through windows, and intranet access through linux. their clocks sync to the windows server, but the gentoo server does not.

I tried changing the DST info on our linux server, and now when users restart their computers, they can't access any network files. They are prompted for a password, but it always fails. I checked the smbd logs, and I see a lot of:

[2007/03/12 10:59:48, 0] lib/debug.c:reopen_logs(589)
Unable to open new log file /var/log/samba3/log.xx.xx.x.xxx: No such file or directory

and stuff like that. I have no clue where to go from there. I can ping the linux server just fine from any machine, and those who don't restart their computer are fine. Any ideas?
