you have it all set up so let me run through what you should have.
you the router set to dhcp to provide IP addresses to the different computers.
you obviously have the internet gateway because one computer can connect at a time.
you provided at least 5 or 10 IP address allocation for that many computers.
you have each computer wired directly to one of the router points.
you do specifically have a router and not a switch or hub.
you do not have a cable modem and no IP address redirecting dhcp router.
you did not set up each computer to the modem host gateway.
You allowed the router to set all the IP addresses statically.

if any of these don't make sense, double check the exact name and model of your cable modem, your router, and the IP addresses to the modem, from the modem, and to each computer. each computer will have it's own IP address if it is connected correctly.

any more problems, send me an e-mail with the above data

If you attach a wireless or wired router to the port on your modem, you can connect more computers to the router and they will all use the same cable or dsl modem to connect to the internet. For more information on choosing a router that fits your needs, go to a store and ask them for suggestions. Alternatively, if you just have a few computers, you can do a search for 5 port routers or 5 port switches and choose one that is a good price and has good reviews. Any other questions?? Good luck!
