If you are moving modem cable between laptop and router WAN port, you have to reset the modem or wait several minutes for it to detect a new device. You can't just go switch back and forth between two network devices (usually) from a modem. The modem is what assigns your public Ip to the device, and wants to do it to only one at a time. Changing the device, you have to let the modem figure it out,that the old device is not coming back soon, or force it by power cycling to detect the new device right away.

I think Linksys uses 192.168.100.0/24 as the subnet on the internal side.

http://192.168.100.1 in your web bar. If that does not work..

start -> run -> cmd
ipconfig /all
you want the field that says "default gateway"

Unless you changed things you should be able to type in you default router adress of 192.168.0.1 from a local LAN connection.

It will then prompt you for your password. If you changed it from default I hope you know it. The defauls can be located in the manual.

If you can't remember your password you can reset the router to defaults.

Good luck

Goto Start -> Run and type "cmd"
Then in the DOS window, type "ipconfig"

Look for the IP for the gateway aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd

Type that IP address in internet explorer and that is the interface to the linksys.

Hope this helps
