I have a problem with my dial-up internet connection from TATA Indicom. Randomly the web pages do not get downloaded.
If i try the "ping www.anywebsite.com" at these times, i get an output showing "25% data loss" or "50% data loss" like that.
What does this mean? Is the problem in my PC or ISP? Cannot be with the website because it happens on all websites.
The problem also is that this is not always present only for about 10 minutes/half hour then everything becomes normal. Then after sometime again recurs.

We have a DSL in our office, set up for our computer. But we were wondering how we can get it so our PS3 in our family room (roughly 25ft away) can be connected through our DSL without tons of cables going through our condo. This guy at Best Buy said to get a Wireless Router for that. But which kind? I saw that some were in the $200 range which I found pretty expensive.

Is there a good router that's significantly cheaper than that, and that would allow us to connect our PS3 with our DSL? Also, is there anything that we could buy that would connect our TIVO (right next to our PS3) to that router as well? The guy at Best Buy said TIVO's need to be connected directly to the phone jack. Is that true?

Thanks!

I know absolutely nothing about these sorts of things. All I know is that I went I turned off my computer/hub-thing last night and this morning when I turned it back on the green lights (except the one furthest at the right) on the hub are not on. I called BT but their advice (something to do with the CD I first used when I got the connection) just confused me.

My DSL modem was disconnected, temporarily, from my phone line. When reconnected, it failed to work. DSL, ENET, and ACT lights are on. I've restarted the modem and PC; the computer says the network is connected.
When I open IE, it says detecting proxy at the bottom, the page never loads. No other services connect to the internet.
"repairing" the connection doesn't work either.

This happens all the time, whenever the phone line is simply disconnected. I can never figure out how I fix it, it just suddenly works after I try many different things.

How might this happen and how do I fix?

I have Windows 2000, and did a Windows update which I was told that would install a patch to allow my computer to adjust for the new Daylight Savings Time Change. Well.... it didn't. So, I went in manually to change the time. Sounds simple, right? But the time will change only for a little while, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes an hour, etc.., then change back to the old time. (which is an hour earlier)
We are on a network, that share 3 computers, and we all have the same problem. HOWEVER, the network server, does have the correct time it should be. HELP!!!

All source MAC addresses must be manually configured in CAM.
The switch reads the source MAC address on incoming frames and records
it in CAM.
The switch reads the destination MAC address on incoming frames and
records it in CAM.
If a switch port is full duplex, the switch reads both the source and
destination MAC addresses on incoming frames and records them in CAM.

i've installed it on 2 machines on the same network. a network involving only a wireless router which gives us our ip addresses. I installed pc gateway because that's supposed to make it so my computer can be behind a router. and it just doesn't work. i can't seem to figure out what's wrong, and I've tried many things. I tried fowarding ports on my router and set up static ip addresses for my computers and they are set up not to aquire addresses automatically.
I know my external ip address, i've got it memorized because i've typed it in about 400 times this week. that address never changes. so i'm assuming i have a static ip address from my isp? it's optonline cable if that makes a difference.
