I have recently purchased a new computer to replace our old one. The new one currently cannot support our scanner and many of our software programs. The older computer runs on Windows ME, the new one is on XP. Is there any way that I can network the two computers so that I can still use the software and scanner from the old one with the new one?
Thanks!

I'm trying to set up my wireless connection but it seems to keep dropping the connection - only if I stop clicking / surfing to read a page. If I linger more than about 30 sec's on a page the connection drops. Helplines are useless - using BT home hub.

Please help!!!

i have two external hard drives that i use for backups and storage. can i connect them directly to my router? I would like to stack them all by my router so that the 3 laptops in my house can all access them through our network. How do i do this. They are both firewire routers and neither has a network plug. If need be i would be willing to invest in a new external hardrive that has a network plus (is there is such a thing). any advise on how i should set up my home network so i can use external drives on my network for backup and storage?

The router worked fine until two months ago when I had trouble connecting to the internet. Called Verizon and was told to disconnect the router, I did. The internet works fine on my first computer and when I attempted to connect to the other using the router, I cannot connect to the internet. Can anyone tell me why.
Thanks.

Does this give you internet anywhere (outside the range of the home router) or is this if you don't already have a wireless card installed in your laptop?

My axim (which I love!) is a little low end. It's the x51. I don't think I can access wi fi with it right out of the box. I've read a little about wi fi sd and cf cards, though neither staples nor best buy have carried them for the last two years. Do I need one of the above? Which one? Know of a good store or website where I could find one?

The IVR server would intercept VOIP calls and handle them. From what I can tell, there would be no need for hardware since it will all be done internally. The server could contain the code to convert the VOIP signal, if that is even necessary.

I have been doing searches on this but I thought I would throw it out here as well.

I switched from DSL (2.5 - 3.7mb actual) to Cable and am getting between 18-21mbs (no kidding). I had to install the software onto the PC I was using to get it to work ( password protected or something). I was able to get it to go through my wireless router, and the speed through the computer attached via a ethernet cable is still 18-21. I have three other computers hooked up on a wireless network. All of them have various brands of 802.11g adapters with all the equivalent system specs as the one hard wired, but they are only getting 4-5 mbs).

I am using a Linksys 54g 802.11g wifi router. I am getting a 54 mbs connection on two of the four pcs (24 on the other two).

I am wondering if the comcast software installed something on the PC to give it a higher bandwidth. I would hate to tie up the other resources of the other PC witht his software if it is unnecessary.

Or has anyone else had this 5mbs cap problem with 54g Linksys routers.

I can easily live just fine with 5.

HI I have been trying to research this and i am not sure what components I will need on his house and on mine to get the fastest service. What I have come up with so far is a router linked to his highspeed, going up to an antenna as well, an antenna on my end hooked into a router. Is there a special type of router that I would need? Please help. Thanks Nat

There are 3 computers at my house; my mom's, dad's, mine. My files were all on my computer, but recently I started using my own account on my mom's. Now, all of the files from my computer are on this account (which is on a separate computer). How do I move those files back?

I don't know how they got to the new account anyway. They just showed up. I had my computer set so that my files weren't accessible to everyone on the network.

Till today my system had Windows 2000 Professional. And I was the administrator and had access to all the drives of the disk. But I had not given access to E drive to another user Monica.

Today I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP but didn't upgrade from Windows 2000 Pro and registred myself as Sat as Computer Administrator, and another user Monica with limited access. While loading Win XP, I formatted only C drive where my current OS (Win XP) is loaded and there itsef earlier OS (Win 2k) was loaded. NOW
1) we both can not access that E drive at all. Even when I login as Sat (Computer Administrator) and try to access the E drive, I get a message as 'drive not accessible'.

2) Moreover, when I try to add another user with username 'administrator', I get a mesage as 'username administrator already exists', infact there is no user with that username.

Please help me access E drive.
