HI I have been trying to research this and i am not sure what components I will need on his house and on mine to get the fastest service. What I have come up with so far is a router linked to his highspeed, going up to an antenna as well, an antenna on my end hooked into a router. Is there a special type of router that I would need? Please help. Thanks Nat

A thousand feet away? Good luck.

Even the new 802.11n wireless standard does not have a range even close to that.

The max range you can expect to get out of even the newest router is about 370 feet (126 meters to be exact).

It can be done with an internet connected wireless router and a directional antenna. Then set-up a wireless ethernet bridge on the other end with a directional antenna, that will allow you to connect your remote computer.

The type of router doesn't matter. You're too far away. Even with a clear line of sight, the maximum distance for wireless networking is around 100 meters.

Forget it you are to far apart. You can do it but the cost is something that companies can afford not home networks. If you are both connected to the internet why not consider that idea of using something like Microsoft's Netmeeting. You can share files and do other stuff and it might work for you. Hope this helps, good luck.

Here is a good place to talk to about antennas and what you need since they specialize in long distance WiFi setups.
