I have recently purchased a new computer to replace our old one. The new one currently cannot support our scanner and many of our software programs. The older computer runs on Windows ME, the new one is on XP. Is there any way that I can network the two computers so that I can still use the software and scanner from the old one with the new one?
Thanks!

I just created a network with an ME and an XP desktop. It is very unstable though and works when IT wants to. XP is easy to define. ME is not so easy. Go into Control Panel on each and define Wireless Networking. Just follow the yellow brick road in each. Make sure you name each computer. Make sure your wireless router is secured with WEP and MAC filtering.

See if your able to share your printer and scanner with the work group also. Then you can add them to your new computer and leave them plugged in to the old..

Another solution to save space, put a remote desktop program on the ME machine, share the devices, and store the monitor to save space.. when you want to use ME machine just login with your remote desktop software.
