Verizon is pretty fast compared to Cingular, from my own experiences, not sure about Sprint though.

Verizon's CDMA technology is far superior to Cingular/AT&T's GSM technology. Despite their claim for the fewest dropped calls, Verizon can sustain an uninterrupted conversation with one bar of service while Cingular/AT&T needs 3 to 5 bars to do the same. Verizon's coverage area is also superior to Cingular/AT&T's and their customer service is as well. I work for a retailer and I deal with several carriers. I've had several carriers in the past including Cingular and the old AT&T wireless but I have Verizon now and I am more than satisfied with it. And to rebut what someone said about rollover minutes "why pay for minutes you don't use?" I say "Why go with an inferior carrier just so you can stockpile minutes you'll never use?" With Cingular/AT&T you're still paying for minutes you don't use but instead they're rolling over to the next month where you won't use them again etc. til 6 months later when they finally disappear. Can you say gimmick? I don't know anyone who honestly benefitted from rollover minutes but if Cingular is good at one thing its making people think they need them. And nobody can seriously say they have never dropped a call with Cingular. I have never had a GSM carrier that hasn't dropped a call several times. I have not ever had a call drop with Verizon and I live in rural Georgia in a town of only 4,000 people.

Verizon is gurrently V1 EDVO so the bandwidth is around 200-400kbps, they're upgrading but who knows when it'll be complete. Cingular is 3G as is Sprint which specs out at 400-800kbps min bursting to 1.2Mbps. I use Sprint and Verizon, Sprint is faster, Verizon has better coverage.

Everyone has their 'favorite' company.. However, if you travel a lot, you want one that works in the MOST PLACES. I have tried just about all of them, and Verizon beats them all for coverage, hands down!! There are 'dead spots' for every company, even Verizon. But far fewer than others, in my opinion. (Worst coverage on the road, Nextel, Cingular.)

I have T-Mobile and I use a used Sony GC-83 aircard that I bought off of eBay for a couple of bucks and a 7dB gain antenna. I have lousy reception in many areas where I am, but with that antenna I get 4 bars out of 5. Great service, I can use my notebook computer anywhere I want to now without a hitch! I definitely recommend T-Mobile!
