I have a new Dell’s laptop which I was able to configure to use the wireless Linksys WRT54GS router to access the DSL modem to go to the Internet. This works fine.

Now I want to add the printer to the fry.

What do I have to do – in as many detail and possible – to add a printer to the router in order to be able to print from my laptop (wireless) to the printer?

I am new to networking and wireless networking, so any help (in easy step-by-step format preferably) would be greatly appreciated.

I have a laptop, a router and a network enabled printer

I have cable broadband and I have connected a Belkin wireless router. Several other flatmates can log in to the system without any problems, as can I but only for a few a minutes. After that the system kicks me off and I have to repair the connection. I have tried replacing the router, updating my wireless adaptor drivers and changed my firewall settings all to no avail. It starts happily at 54Mbps and slowly drops to nothing
over a period of about 10 minutes. Has anyone any suggestions?

I can only recieve dial up, but it cost £14.99 per month, yet broadband which is the better service can be as little as £5, or even free with sky. Is there a cheaper dial up connection, or is there someone to complain to, about overpriced connection to dial up.

I would like to migrate a Windows 2000 Server to a Debian linux as server, and want to know if the Linux can build up a Domain, like de Windows' AD does, with the profile support abilities, centralized account manager, etc.

I've heard that it's not possible, that I could only build a Workgroup, and the windows clients (with local accounts) could access the server's network folders providing the credentials (another ones, stored at the linux server). (but if both of them were equal, user/pass, it would me automatic and transparent to the user).

But the windows profiles accounts I've heard that isnt possible with a linux server, so Samba couldn't support saving the user profile data at the server, and syncronizing it automatically at logon/logoff time, also don't allowing the user to logon in another machine and having his current profile automatically loaded.

In this network users does use some of these capabilities, but I'd like more having a Linux as a server.

Is it possible?

My sister got a new laptop and I've been trying to set up a wifi connection on it.
I know it has a intern WIFI card because it set up on its own the first time (we had to bring it back after).
But now that we got it back the computer doesn't seem to detect the card, is there any way I can make the detection and instalation.

How can I get the most efficiency out of my Network Server

We have a server with two large Databases on it. We have 16 workstations tapping into the server for both Database files and user documents and folders. There are two HD’s, 160gig mirrored, and 2 gigs of RAM (We run Windows Server 2003). I am thinking of reformatting the drives to partition them, dedicating two partitions for the databases (one each), another partition for the servers system files, and the final for the network users files (several gigs alone).

Any ideas on if this is the right answer? Am I going in the right direction with my ideas for better speed and efficiency?
