100 Mbits? A thousand? Terabit? There's got to be a physical limit, even if the servers can't handle it.

The bandwidth of the cable is probably much higher. Cable TV gets the higher bandwidth because it is capable of handling more frequency variations than standard telephone lines. Cable TV can handle all those things you list because of this.

In practical terms, the download speed increases become somewhat unimportant at higher levels because the upload speed of the servers usually can't keep up.
