Depends on how your Administrative tools is set up
Sometimes just going to System Properties, then Remote, and you can activate from there.
Sometimes you need to edit the Registry, and start up the remote access service

you want to install a remote desktop server? what do you mean exactly? are you trying to use Remote Desktop Control thats built into XP PRO? if thats the case then thats under Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop.

Now if you are trying to install a remote server, is the XP Pro going to be the server or a client? Are you using SSH or OpenSSH or OpenSSHd? you have to be more specific..

Reverting to the above paragraph, if you are having connectivity problems then check your router and make sure all ports are open that you wanna use, e.g 22, 3389. Also make sure remote connections are checked in your system properties. Right click on my computer and click properties and go to the remote tab.

Anyways please elaborate more you ur problem and your goal.
