Well, I really need a laptop for many numerous things. I will be going to college soon so I need a laptop that would be good for a student. I like music, and watching DVDs/playing games would be awesome (but this is mostly for school work). If it had a webcam it would be great! I want it to have a pretty long battery life and wireless internet. That is the most important part. For prices I think anything over $2,000 is too much? What should I look for! Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

it became really slow so i tried installing a fresh copy of windows xp but when i restarted it became really slow again and i mean really slow it takes ages to move my mouse also it's getting really hot i could hear the fan all the time although i'm not using it

i recently put in a password on my router to protect it and since my latop is vista and im more fimiliar with vista i new how to enter the password in, can any one tell me how to enter the passowrd into the desktop so it will work

When I open my computer, it goes to the starting screen and then it is normal. But after, when I use it for three minutes, the computer is jammed and closes what I was doing and goes to the screen: Windows is shuting down. I need help, I can't finish my important project. This problem just happened today and now I can't do anything on my computer now... Please HELP!

...open programs up, such as Microsoft Excel and/or MS Word, be able to perform operations within that program, and do it all in an automated fashion? I'd like to write an executable or something that could open a text file, copy all the text, close the text file, open MS Excel, paste the text, plot the text (assuming it's data), save the excel file, close excel, open MS Word, paste the data in Word, save the file, close the file and Word.

Will Visual Basic do this? Create like a visual basic script?

(I just want to know what software to use do do this, not specifically the instructions I need to implement the automated list above.)

I have a windows vista Hp Pavilion tx1000 notebook pc 32 bit operating system and a amd turion 64 x2 1.60GHz
my network adapter used to work perfectly fine but one day it just stopped and i ran the diagnostics and it said plug cable into the LAN but theres nothing wrong with my wifi i use a psp on it I reinstalled NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller and that didnt work so i recovered it from the original version but that didnt work either virus scanned and everything the network still doesnt work and the wireless switch on the side doesnt turn blue when i try to turn it on and it cant find any networks please help!!! thanks

My computer is Windows Xp home and worked fine for a few years......

Okay, so a few days ago a strange dot appeared on my desktop.. turns out this was some kind of adware and every single time I put the mouse over it, a bunch of Internet Explorer windows open up.. so annoying! So, I tried to get rid of this and installed Kaspersky anti virus.
BIG MISTAKE!
The minor virus turned into a huge headache because after it was done installing it required me to restart -- i did that and guess what? NOW.. when i start the computer and log in. ALL THAT COMES UP .. is my wallpaper. No icons, start, etc, etc.

What is going on?
I have the windows xp CD, but i cant find the SERIAL KEY or something like that for it so i dont know about if I can Boot from CD or not..

Someone know anything!?!

PC keeps rebooting. I have tried all the options like safe mode, normal mode, boot to windows, system recovery disc, etc. It just keeps rebooting. Tried F2 key and F8 key. No luck. Help PLEASE!!

I have connected my two computers via a wired router to the internet. Both can now connect to the internet at the same time, however, I can not seem to get them to interact. I was hoping to share files and printers but they seem oblivious to each other. Number 1 is running Windows XP and the other is running Vista.. Man.. It is tough to get Old!

We've burned at least 40 cds this month and they all took 6 -10 minutes then all at once Windows Media Player started working slower and slower and now it is taking 60 - 90 minutes per cd.

There are no other windows open on the computer.

Windows Media Player is the only program running.

The recycling bin is completely empty.

Okay, I'm trying to edit my YouTube page, and I put in this URL into the background box:

It brings up a picture. And when I'm editing it, the picture showa up as the background and everything. But when I push Ok, it says 'Please enter a valid picture URL'. Why won't it let me use it? See, even if you click the link, it takes you to a picture, right?
