Sometimes I go to log on a site,type it in etc. and the screen goes completely white and in the address bar it says about blank, or something like that. I have Spyware Doctor's latest version too, McAfee Antivirus etc. Something about being hijacked, this shouldn't be, I take all the necessary precautions...what up with this?

Usually, in places like a University residence there are some restrictions when it comes to internet: people can access the internet but cannot use programs like Torrent or p2p clients and sometimes VoIP phones.. My question is:

Technically, how does the system understands that I'm using DC++, uTorrent, VoipBuster or whatever ?!

(And if someone knows by the way: Is it possible to overide this restriction by using programs like Tor or Privoxy?!)

I have comcast cable modem and they boast a speed of 6 megs and have an upgrade for 8 megs. AT&T told me that they have a 3 and 6 meg package, but due to my location i can only get the 3 meg speed. AT&T also told me that although comcast has the 6 and 8 meg speeds, because they are cable, those speeds are usually bogged down to 3-4 megs due to the number of people using it, and that i'll only get that optimum speed at 3 in the morning when everyone is asleep. AT&kT also said that because they are a DSL service, their speeds never get bogged down.
The problem is that i want to buy the playstation 3 and my friend swears up and down that people with DSL always have lag time problems when they play online with the ps3.
So any computer experts on here that can help me make a decision? I also want to watch movies and the like online and download animes and stuff from my veohtv beta.

I dont know which button to press! Their is 6 buttons.

One is the power button.
One says P1.
One says P2.
One has a pic of an envelope.
One has a a pic of something that looks like Saturn.
And another is a swirly thing and a kind of star shape :S

Sorry, I'm just not good with laptops and I really want to change the brightness. So what can I do to change the brightness of the screen? THANKS :D

On your laptop the screen when iits in the charger its wayy brighter than it is when its out of the charger its not bright its really dim!!! i have it fully charged and all!

how do I find the appropriate drivers or software for the router and how do I set the router up? I have had the router connected to my laptop via an Ethernet cable through one of of the LAN ports and it shows there is a connection. I just cant connect to my ISP. AS I've got cable, I do not need to connect using a user name/password. Thanks

I have a trojan virus worm32.NetSky on my Dell desktop computer. My Norton AntiVirus is current and I have also the Yahoo spyware and also Super Antispyware, but still got this virus. I wanted to reset this computer even before this, but can't do it with the original discs that came with it or any other that I have, so can anybody tell me how to do this? I have tried a number of methods, but whenever I try to download a random video the download starts fine, but stops exactly after few seconds. Like it stops after downloading just 2-3 MB.

How do I rectify it? Has anyone experienced similar problems while trying to download from google? Its just extremely frustrating. I would appreciate any help. Can someone please suggest me a better good working method to download videos from google?
